Introduction: The Panigaon OPD College is
established in the year 1984 and the Department of Assamese was incorporated in
the college as well as main subject. After about 8 years the specialists in
honors (Major) course was opened in the year 1992 .Since then the Department of
Assamese has been rendering its services Assamese Literature as well as culture
to the students of Lakhimpur District in general and the department has been
extending their expertise in the development of the local history over the
years. Since the establishment of the college the following teacher working in
the department.
Aims
and Objectives:
Ø The main aims of the Dept. of Assamese are to highlight the Assamese Language, Culture, Traditions and social system amongst the Student.
Ø To achieving their goal more efforts to be given in the field of education and co-curricular activities.
Ø Various program like seminar, conference, health awareness etc will be organize amongst the students and Carrier counseling, field work program and various historical, spiritual places will be taken and visit from time to time.
Ø To create a good Academic atmosphere amongst the students.
Ø Besides the offline mode the new learning and teaching method i.e. Online, PPT presentation will be provided to the students.

PROGRAMME OUTCOME
This syllabus contains
different categories of Assamese Languages ,Literature, Culture And Scripts .In
the part of Literature Students gathers literary knowledge like Romantic
Literature , Devotional literature ,Oral Literature and Modern Literature etc.
The learners can come to know about the various information of Assamese
literature at different period of time.Specially through the Early and modern
Assamese Literature. Students will get cultural knowledge from the cultural
part of the syllabus. From the language part of the syllabus students will know
the formation and development of Assamese Language, relationship with
Sanskrit,Pali –Prakrit –Apanbhnasha and others New Indio Aryan Languages .They
also know the relationship with the Non Aryan Languages and world Languages
Families.
COURSE OUTCOME
The students will be
able to study about the Assamese language, literature and culture, Mass
Communication, Modern Indian Language, Cultural studies etc. at the University
level. They can engage themselves in the various aspects such as Reporting in
both print and electronic media, anchoring, translating and proof-reading,
Teaching and establish themselves as a literary person by gaining the ability
in creative writing and critical thinking.
