PANIGAON OMPRAKASH DINODIA COLLEGE

Introduction

The Legal Literacy Club (LLC) of Panigaon OPD College, Lakhimpur, was established in 2018 with the aim of raising legal awareness and promoting rights-based education within the local community. Since its inception, the club has worked in close collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Lakhimpur, to organize various outreach and awareness programs.

Activities of Legal Literacy Club (2022 – July 2025)

• Awareness programme on Elimination of Violence Against Women and PCPNDT Act, 1994 on 25th Nov, 2022 at Dakhin Telahi High School, in collaboration with DLSA Lakhimpur and Telahi ICDS Project.
• Expert talk on the significance of the Indian Constitution on National Constitution Day (26th Nov, 2022) in collaboration with Electoral Literacy Club.
• Talk on the rights of girl child and gender discrimination on National Girl Child Day (24th Jan, 2023) with Women Cell, Panigaon OPD College.
• Talk on "Global Science for Global Wellbeing" on National Science Day (28th Feb, 2023).
• Awareness programme on Child Marriage on 11th Mar, 2023 by District Child Protection Unit, in collaboration with ICDS Telahi and LLC.
• Awareness on Consumer Rights, Consumer Law, and Food Safety Act on World Consumer Rights Day (15th Mar, 2023) in collaboration with DLSA Lakhimpur.
• Stress Management awareness programme on 24th Aug, 2023 with Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Viswavidyalaya, North Lakhimpur.
• Observation of International Women’s Day on 8th Mar, 2024 in collaboration with Women Cell and IQAC.
• Elocution competition on the occasion of 78th Independence Day (14th Aug, 2024) with the Department of Assamese and IQAC.
• Legal Services Day observed on 9th Nov, 2024 in collaboration with DLSA and IQAC.
• International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women observed on 25th Nov, 2024 in collaboration with DLSA and IQAC.
• Observation of International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2025 with NCC and NSS units.
• Observation of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June, 2025 under the banner of DLSA, Lakhimpur.

The Legal Literacy Club of Panigaon OPD College has played a pivotal role in fostering a legally aware and socially responsible community. With active collaboration from government bodies and civil society organizations, the club continues to educate and empower individuals, especially the vulnerable, in matters of law, rights, and social justice.
