Research and Development Cell

Foreword

The IQAC of Panigaon OPD College has received the MOST URGENT notification (no 1-5/2021(NEP/Desk-Parl.) dated 8th June, 2022 of the honourable Joint Secretary, UGC. Accordingly, the Research, Innovation and Extension Sub-committee, NAAC, POPDC prepared this guideline for setting up the Research and Development Cell (RDC) of the college. It has been approved in the first executive meeting of the RDC.

Objectives

  • Promote a research and development atmosphere at the college.
  • Identify areas of research activities locally and beyond.
  • Ensure socio-economic and intellectual development of the catchment areas through research outcomes.
  • Contribute to knowledge through journals, books, and publications of repute.
  • Encourage faculty for research work including Ph.D., M.Phil., MRPs, FIPs, RCs, OCs, etc.
  • Promote collaborations with universities, NGOs, companies, and institutions.
  • Create a Research and Information Management System (RIMS) in collaboration with UGC-INFLIBNET.
  • Monitor research works and facilitate funding, data, and guidance.
  • Hold seminars/workshops on research methodology annually.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Submit annual progress reports to college authority and IQAC.
  • Assist in promoting excellence in research, academics, and training.
  • Inform about grants/funding from various agencies.
  • Disseminate funding scheme details to faculty and staff.
  • Promote projects benefiting local and larger communities.
  • Foster motivation and engagement in research activities.
  • Monitor research works and review proposals.
  • Set procedures for research programme administration.
  • Create strategies with funding institutions for advanced research.
  • Submit audit reports and utilization certificates for financial grants.

Rules

  • Meet at least twice per semester.
  • 50% attendance required for quorum.
  • All seminars, workshops, projects, and publications come under RDC.
  • Tenure is two academic years.
  • Researchers must submit hard and soft copies of publications.
  • Maintain a register of all activities.
  • On-duty applications for research work should be forwarded by RDC (max 4 OD per semester).
  • Provide dedicated office space with ICT facilities and notice board.
  • Prioritize publications in Scopus, Web of Science, and UGC Care-listed journals.
  • All research proposals must be approved before funding.
  • Maintain minutes of all proceedings and upload to website.
  • Ensure plagiarism check for all research work before publication.
